See You on Sunday for Worship

Sunday, October 8 • 10:00 a.m.

We can’t wait to worship with you on Sunday, October 8 at 10:00 a.m., in-person or streaming live on Facebook. It’s going to be a great day for worship! We will save a seat for you.

Socktober: October Mission Project

During the month of October, the kids in Children’s Ministry have challenged the church to collect 300 pairs of new socks for adult men and women who are guests of Micah Ministry. Even a small act of love, such as donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are unhoused or food insecure.

A donation bucket is located at the Children’s Ministry check-in desk. Thank you for your donations and helping us live out our mission to serve our neighbors here and around the world!

Johnson County Pride in the Park on Sunday

Shawnee Community is hosting a booth at the Johnson County Pride in the Park on Sunday, October 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park in Lenexa. This a wonderful opportunity for us to live out our mission and to spread the word that there is a church in Johnson County that is open and affirming and welcomes everyone.

If you would like to volunteer to staff the booth you can sign up at the link below. If you aren’t able to volunteer, come out and support our community. This is a family-friendly event with entertainment, free food and activities for kids.

You’re Invited to the Table of Joy

Sunday, October 1 • 10:00 a.m.

Join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in person or streaming live on Facebook, as we finish our sermon series, Come to the Table. On Sunday, we will discuss Come to the Table: The Table of Joy. We celebrate our common communion table with people all over the world. Through Jesus, we are brought together and no matter how we got there, believing in the host of this Table makes our joy complete! Let us share our stories, our compassion, and our sympathy as part of one human family that shares the love of Christ in the breaking of the bread

Volunteer at Micah

On Monday, October 2 we will be serving dinner at Micah Ministry as a church family. Volunteers should meet at Micah at 4:45 p.m. to help set up and prepare for the guests. Volunteers must be 12 years and older. If you are interested in volunteering, sign up here.

Micah Ministry is located at Independence Boulevard Christian Church (606 Gladstone Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64124). From 5:30p-7:00p every Monday, Micah offers a hot “to-go” meal, hygiene products, clothing, additional food items, and items to support our house-less neighbors such as blankets, sleeping bags, tents, etc.
