Christmas Is Not Your Birthday Offering

Every year at Shawnee Community Christian Church we give a special gift at Christmas to celebrate the love of God through Jesus’ birth. It’s a tradition that we return to again and again, going above and beyond our normal giving to support organizations or missions that are supporting our brothers and sisters here in our community and around the world.

This year, our Christmas Is Not Your Birthday Offering will raise support for Shawnee Community’s first Global People-To-People Mission. Volunteers from our church will travel to Ghana to learn and serve with others from Kansas City to learn and serve with Disciples Global Ministries, to experience firsthand the tragic history of slavery and racism, and to experience the work of Jesus among the people there. Recently, a group of Disciples Regional Ministers went to Ghana for a People-To-People Mission. Read more about their experience. 

Our goal is to raise $15,000 for our Christmas Is Not Your Birthday offering. 10 percent of the offering will stay here in Kansas City for the work of the Kansas City Region of the Disciples of Christ.
