Not everyone is cheery and joyful during the Christmas season. So many things can impact how we feel…Grieving the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with job loss or financial distress, facing a serious illness that puts a question mark over our future…any number of situations can make parties and joyful gatherings painful for many.

Blue Christmas is a service that acknowledges the hard stuff in the midst of the often joyful and busy holiday season. It’s a service of honesty, a space to hold what gives us joy alongside that which gives us sadness. It’s a place to remember the hope God brings to all the different, joyful and difficult parts of our lives…

This service is open to all of our community. Please share this event with anyone who may need comfort during this season.

Sunday, December 24 • 5:30 p.m.

Start your family holiday celebration by remembering the reason for the season! Join us for a casual, family-friendly, Christmas Eve worship service with Christmas music, candle lighting, activities for kids ages 0-4th grade and communion for all people who desire to receive it without any exceptions. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.

At Shawnee Community, we believe all are welcome. Gay, straight, transgender, married, single, divorced or none of the above. And when we say welcome – we mean loved, celebrated and cherished just as you are. And when we say all, we mean you!
