Ministry Update

On Monday, June 8th our building Reopening Team met to consider new updates, guidance, and public gathering safety for our church in light of the current COVID situation in our community. Please note- our church is open and doing ministry. We are worshiping, serving, and studying our faith. The building is the only thing that is closed.

We considered our facility and possible gatherings based on the Kansas Ad Astra plan. While understanding that we are no longer required to follow the plan legally, we understand that it is still recommended to be used for public safety. We also considered recommendations for churches from the National Council of Churches, the Disciples of Christ, and the CDC.

  • At this time we do not see public worship in our facility as a safe option until at least July 15, 2020. We consider it likely to need to continue online worship later into the early fall beyond that time. We will meet to reconsider data in early July and make new recommendations.
  • At this time we do not support public gatherings for youth or children, but anticipate beginning to schedule occasional socially distanced events after July 15th and after observing the Kansas plan for back-to-school and childcare center safety that is anticipated in the next month.

The Reopening Team will meet again at the beginning of July to reassess the situation.

Our Current Plan

Worship: We will continue to worship online on Sundays at 10:30 am on Facebook until at least Sunday, July 19. We will have our first outdoor public worship on Sunday, July 12th at 8:00 am. Full details of outdoor worship.

Small Groups: If you aren’t in a small group, now is a great time to jump in. Online groups are meeting weekly.  Email Monica Lewis if you need help finding a group.

Community Kids: Community kids continues to find inventive ways to connect with kids during this time. Email Patt Ludwick, director of family ministry, to make sure you are receiving weekly emails.
