All Church Lunch Following Worship on Sunday

Sunday, May 15 · Elder Group Lunch

Enjoy food and fellowship at the All Church Lunch on Sunday, following worship, hosted by the Shawnee Community Elders. All are invited to enjoy the food, fun and fellowship. Food will be provided – hot dogs, chips, sides and dessert!

Everyone is invited to sit with their Elder Care Group during the lunch to connect and meet new faces. It’s been too long since we’ve been able to gather as a community. Not sure what an elder care group is? Each member of our community is placed in an elder care group with other Shawnee Community members. Each group is lead by one of our elders. When you have a joy or prayer concern to share, you contact your elder. If you or your family has a need, your care group circles around you in prayer and support. It is a great way to create community and relationships with other members of Shawnee Community.

New to Shawnee Community? This is the perfect opportunity to connect with others and enjoy good food!

Come and enjoy the food and fellowship!

New Sermon Series Begins Sunday

Sunday, May 8th • 10:00 a.m.

Join us at 10:00 am in person or streaming live on Facebook, as we begin our new sermons series, Troublemakers & Rabble Rousers: Prophets in Our Own Time.  We’ve heard of prophets in the Bible. We generally think of them running around in hair shirts, having locusts for dinner, and shouting how bad everyone was. But there was more nuance to prophets in the biblical text than what caricatures want us to recognize.

The need for prophets has not disappeared over the years. What’s a modern prophet look and sound like, and what role do they to play in our time? How do they speak for God and how can we know that they speak truth?  What challenge do our modern prophets present to us and are we willing to grow into the people that they believe we can be?

With the idea that “Well behaved women seldom make history” we take a look at women from biblical and modern times—and how they are prophets among us.
