Sunday is our last day to collect school supplies for members of our Shawnee Community family who are teachers. The items listed are those supplies they need but are not always provided and typically have to pay for out of their own pockets.

While you are out shopping in the next couple of weeks, pick up some items for our teachers to help them start off the year!

Help Us Honor Jonathan Sommerfeld

The Tall Oaks Gala is September 17th. Each year, there is an opportunity to bid on naming rights of the road at the entry of Tall Oaks for the year. This year, a group of us have decided we would like to try to have the winning bid. If successful we intend to name the road in memory of Jonathan Sommerfeld, who enjoyed the beauty of nature as experienced at Tall Oaks and who attended Tall Oaks as a camper.

If you wish to participate, please send an e-mail to Annette Hollingsworth or Ann Morton stating the amount of your desired contribution.  We will reach back out to you to arrange payment in the event Shawnee Community has the successful bid.

Why Give Blood?

Community Blood Center must collect almost 600 units of blood daily to meet the needs of area hospital patients.  As there is no substitute for blood, Community Blood Center relies on volunteer donors like you to supply the life-saving blood and blood components to hospitals in Kansas and Missouri.
