Volunteer Spotlight

Linda Phillips and her family have been members of our church for 20 years. She is the “go to person” if you need information on past and present about Shawnee Community! Linda has served as an Elder, a Deacon, on various committees, in children’s ministry, sung in choirs, and is in charge of general maintenance and decorating of our building. Linda and her husband, Mark, have been married for 44 years. They have two adult children – Timothy and Anna. Linda recently retired and enjoys baking in her free time. When asked why she loves teaching children she said she loves to see them learn and grow. Linda is a huge asset to our church. Thank you Linda for all you do!

Join Us For Worship Online this Sunday

Sunday, January 16 • 10:00 a.m.

Join us Sunday for online worship at 10:00 a.m. on our church Facebook Page or you can watch anytime on our YouTube channel or website. Guest preacher, Laura Guy, will continue our sermon series, Living With Joy.

Due to the high number of COVID cases in our community and to minimize exposures at this time, the Health & Safety Team has concluded that it would be best if we continued church virtually for the next two Sundays, January 16th & 23rd.

We grieve that we cannot worship together in person, but give thanks for the Spirit, that continues to be with us and hold us together, no matter where and how we worship. As always we give thanks for your patience and flexibility as we navigate how to best care for one another and the body of Christ.

See You on Sunday for Worship!

Sunday, January 9 • 10:00 a.m.

Join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for worship as we continue our sermon series Living With Joy. On Sunday we will explore,  Living With Joy: Baptized in Love (Luke 3:15-17, 21-22).

God knows us and names us in love, and shapes us in that love from birth. Jesus’ baptism at the beginning of his ministry helps us see how that love chooses us time and time again throughout our lives. When we remember our own baptism, we are reminded of that love and acceptance.

God calls you beloved and calls you to live in the joy of that belovedness. How does this change how you see your everyday life?

Join Us Sunday for Our New Sermon Series!

Sunday, January 2 • 10:00 a.m.

Join us at 10:00 am in person or streaming live on Facebook, as we begin our new sermons series, Living With Joy. How do we live with purpose and joy in our everyday lives and how is this different than happiness? Our next sermon series, “Living with Joy” helps us explore what it means to live a joyful and meaningful life through Jesus’ early life and ministry. What is real joy and how is it already present in your life? How does God’s continued presence inspire you in your daily living?

On Sunday, we will explore Living with Joy: Led by Joy. God led the three wise men to the Christ child, using an ordinary object: a star. Our path in life may not seem extraordinary, but instead may seem rather ordinary. And yet, God helps us find joy in our life everyday through the ordinary objects and actions around us. What is your deepest Joy? Have you ever wondered how God helps you in discovering that joy and what it means for who you are?
